The majority did not support segregation or oppose inter racial marriage unless of course your talking about the South.
Well our country has something called the Electoral College because our forefathers did not think having a pure democracy was a good idea.
GWB won the popular vote in Florida in every recount and that gave him the state.

You do know about two weeks later they found votes in church's and all over the place stashed?
I don't think our Electoral College is right... if the majority of people vote for a guy, THAT guy should win. I was still Conservative then... but even I admitted at the time it was wrong. Now that've switched parties I definately see it as wrong.

See that parenthetical thing there? That means that I understand the possibility is there that we've got more intolerant people than we do normal ones.

I think it just means closed minds still rule over the open ones.
We're a young nation... that'll change. It already has started

Simple, precise and to the point.
Look up homophobic in the dictionary and my picture is there
No matter what angle you view it from be it religious or natural order of science homosexuality is not right, period. Every religion forbids it and procreation and perpetuation of a species cannot exist with it. Next thing you know there will be laws made protecting the practice of child molestation and it will be legal to marry a 5yo of the same sex or for brother and sister to marry or brother to marry brother, its all the same to me, NOT RIGHT. In the Bible if you believe this route the town of Soddom was destroyed at the hands of god for crap like this. Watch other species besides homosapiens. you dont see same sex unions there now do you. Wild animals have better sense than some people do evidently.
Personally I wish they would have stayed in the closet instead of exposing our children to unnatural acts of same sex anything.
And I am VERY open minded but rational

Well this begs another point...
There is a differance between it being a fact, physically possible to reproduce, or legally correct.
I don't think just because it's wrong in the natural order of things physically, or that religion condones it we have the right as a society to strip the freedoms from these people they wish to share with any other couples.
I don't think it's the governments place to make the decision... mother nature already had her say in it... that should be enough for all of us.

i love it how the liberals label everyone EXCEPT themselves as narrowminded when they don't agree with THEM. Ahem, can you say hypocracy??
Newsflash, the world is a very big place and throughout your entire life your going to run into many people who do not agree with your theories and personal opinions.

All right, this has degraded into ad hominem remarks. That means it's time to quit.
Obviously this discussion is no longer going anywhere.

Did you actually think you were going to change someone's mind about this when you started? Was that your motivation?
Lots of people feel just as strongly as you do about any given topic and will voice it as such.

I can always hope to change someone's mind, but I'm not unrealistic enough to set out with that goal. What I'm saying now is that we're not breaking any new ground: Everything being said now has been reiterated many times. Therefore we're not going anywhere and the debate has run its course.
