Well, actually, I was thinking along the lines of being able to look at college girls one semester longer.
Of course, that's looking at it from John's viewpoint. I would NEVER stare at college girls myself.

Bob you can't say that the college girls in the video from John were not "interesting". LOL

LOL, they don't do a thing for me personally.
I was a varsity cheerleader for all 4 years of high school. Voted in by student body, all 500+ of them. Small school

If I had not changed my major I would be graduating with you in December John! LOL
It is okay to change your plans regarding school, you of all people should know that. You are always in such a hurry to leave Irmo and be on your own. Only I have some news for you, things are not really different outside of Irmo.
You know the saying "Same sh*t different day" Well that applies to location as well. People are going to read the morning paper then go to work for the day everywhere.
Plus, does Hawaii have Easter Lillies?
(Sorry it took me so long to reply, I did not touch a computer this weekend)

LOL, good points on that. I guess I shouldn't be in a hurry to get out of classes, and in some way I'm not. I enjoy school now, much more than ever before in my life.
You're right about wanting to leave too... and I realize that. I know the thrill of getting away is temporary, and that eventually high prices and stuff will make Hilo or wherever all the less magnificent over time. I guess that's just my calling... something about it seems all to familiar and right to me. Just gut feeling.
And no on the lillies, but they do have magnificent flowers... give me a Bird of Paradise bloom anyday.
BTW, the lillies are starting to bloom at the River... me and David went down there this weekend

Well... another big choice lay before me now. As I posted in the google thread (why I don't know .. just off topic), but here's the scoop.

LOL, I have always found Paleoclimatology to be fascinating. The fact that one can find out soo much information about what has happened to our planet in the past and use that data to build models and theories about what could happen in the future.
I remember you saying that your Professor is a Paleoclimatologist and I think that he might see something of you in that field It certainly sounds like you heart is in it and Geology, but only you can make the decision as to which course you are going to go. We might even see you listed Here one day |
I have to decide whether I'm going to go to Graduate school as a Geographer or a Geologist...
This could end up being one of the hardest and naturally biggest choices of my life. Ultimately it comes down to this.
Past decisions:
1.) I decided to change from Engineering to a Earth Science
2.) I was split between Geography and Geology
3.) I decided to go into Geography because I could graduate faster and they appeared to be more interested in me as a student. Geography was my new major.
4.) There were 4 tracks in Geography to take... Human, Techniques (GIS), Basic, and Physical/Environmental. I opted for the Physical/Environmental which is one of the more challenging.
5.) Last Fall 2003 I had Landform Geography and Weather & Climate in the same semester... both 4 credit courses with labs, and I got my only two A's in both for that semester. Both were Undergraduate level courses; one step beyond the intro courses I'd taken in the Summer 03.
6.) This Spring I had Paleoclimatology (Graduate Level course), Climate & Society, GIS (Graduate Level course), and nothing related to Geology
The present:
1.) This fall I'm taking Synoptic Meteorology (forecasting) at the Graduate Level and Plate Techtonics of the Last Glacial Maximum (a 300 level undergraduate Geology Course).
The future:
1.) I have to decide this fall when applying for graduate school, first where I want to do (so I can phrase my letter of intent accordingly), and second where to go.
2.) I'm going to have to make the choice between Geology and Geography again
3.) Paleoclimatology et al I can slide into no problems... my background lets me do that.
4.) Geology would require me to take a lot of courses to get up to speed to even get started on my graduate work... as much as 5-6 courses due to my lack of Geology experience
6.) It's hard to make the choice because I don't know as much about Geology
7.) I need to think long term... which will take me further and which will I enjoy the most. Will I consider getting a PhD, even though it's far from that point?
8.) Where should I try and attend school if I go, etc.
Long term:
1.) I want to work and live in Hawaii, even if only for a few years. Geology will give me a good chance for that, especially if I go to UH at Manoa and major in Seismology/Volcanology. Greography still gives me a fair chance on Oahu, but no where else... and Paleoclimatology likely ONLY on Oahu. Since I am hoping to make the Big Island home, my choices may be limited. I am not thrilled about calling Oahu home.
Tough choices... (I'll post this again in the career choices thread I had started a long time ago)
