Thats actually not that bad, I was expecting it to be more like 4 or 5k. How much did the cooling system alone cost?

The cooling system that is currently installed was around 275 but I made my own resevoir. The whole rig I custom built myself and bought all of the parts off the net. If I had someone else build it 4-5k would probably been about right. Just so you know the plastic tub is temporary. I have some anodized aluminum panels being machined for a custom enclosure for this.
hehehehe

Oh the 3k is just the box and the cooling, doesnot include 22in flatscreen crt or any other hardware. If I added it all up I might scare myelf and have to go see a shrink for obsessive compulsive disorder.

Quite a nice system you have there. Quick question. Do you have too much time on your hands or too much money in your pocket.
J/K. What OS are you running? Also you got any benchmarks?

Evidently I have too much time as one can never have too much money!
I have a triple boot right now that is about to become a quad boot when you count LH. Other OS's include winxp pro, winxp pro64 bit beta, and linux Mandrake 9.2 64 bit. I use the 64 bit win most of the time until I feel like gaming then I go to 32 bit xp as their are drivers lacking for 64 bit yet. I have benched with both versions of 3Dmarks, PC mark and SIS Sandra 2004 for 64 bit and the version for 32 bit. The 3D marks score are higher in win32 because ATI has yet to release any 64bit drivers(I write them an email everyday) and the "In Box" drivers for 64 bit beta from M$ stink!
Benches(I am still tweaking)
I am sill tweaking as I said and they are getting better. How do you like that memory bandwidth? Sweet huh? I dont believe the arithmetic bench is fully optimized for the 64 bit cpu but they say it is. I watch my cpu activity duting that bench and it has never gone above 60% but in the multimedia goes to about 80% and the memory bench pegs it at 100%.

Quite nice on the memory bandwidth. Are you using the 64bit version of Sandra?

Yeah thats the 64 bit version, I get basically the same results with the 2004 32 bit version but previous versions dont support the on die memory controller and when I benched I was like this cant be right! I was getting around 3.2GB/s then looked in the system summary and it was only seeing one stick of ram in a single channel configuration. The old version benches were horrid across the board and I was pulling my hair out wondering why my 2600+ CPU was outbenching my high dollar FX-51, until I went through the system summary and saw there was no support for this platform in the older version.

I did the same thing. The 32bit version reports my board as being socket A. I thought maybe you had gotten the 32bit to work with Windows 64bit.

The 32 bit version has initialization errors on a 64 bit OS. the key is version 2004. there are two of them one for the 32 bit os and one for the 64 bit os. the 32 bit one is free but the 64 bit one is gonna cost you 59 bux.

When it comes to memory, you can have mixed speeds in a system, but say you have one PC2100 and one PC2700, the PC2700 will automatically be downgraded to running at PC2100, in single channel.
As for mixing memory using dual channel. You cam mix different vendors, as long as the memory is the same size and speed. However, it is HIGHLY recommended that you use the same vendor as well, since reliabiliy issue will come into play otherwise.
One final note. When it comes to speed, PC3000 is just a made up speed. there is no spec for PC3000 and definately no JEDEC standard. What module makers have done is overclocked a PC2700 chip to run at the equivilant PC3000 speed or whatever other PCXXX speed the choose. 333mhz running at 375 mhz or whatever.
This is why you see memory modules sold sometimes with a big heatsink across the DRAM chips. It is just an overclocked chip.
