I have an AMD Anthlon XP processor 2800+ and I just wanted to know if I could overclock it to run at 3.2 GHZ since I heard that AMD processor's are the best for overclocking.

I don't think you will ever reach 3.2gig with an Athlon XP processor. You problably will be able to run it at an XP 3200+ which is 2.2gig.

it all depends on the chip itself.....Luck of the draw on top speed in overclocking...

Some chips just clock better than another of the same kind...Its just a big crap-shoot as to how high you will get your particular cpu to go.

Good Luck in your adventures.

also a good thing if your going to over clock it would be to get a liquid nitrogen cooling system... i know of a way that is one of the best i've ever seen done.. a bit expensive but pm me if you want info on the second one

I think a liquid nitrogen system is alittle too much, water cooling is good enough for normal overclocking.

Air cooling will sufice for the casual overclocker, water cooloing is for the more advanced overclocker, and liquid nitrogen cooling is for the extreme overclocker.

many people take amd 3200+ as 3.2 gb or 2800 as 2.8gb, it is a pity that amd has not done anything to clear that misconception.

Did you see where Intel is going the same route?

yeah...how confusing is that gonna be...

the celerons are gonna be 300 series...

pentiums are 500 series...

pIV EE's are 700 series...

and depending on features added to the chips you'll have 350sieries cele...a 575.....725's etc....

they are copying amd and dumping the MHz nomenclature.
