When unistalling a video driver always do the following:

- "Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.

- Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.

- Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

Ok guys -- finally had some free time to sit down and play around with the beta demo. And woah baby!!! Lemme just start out by saying this -- at the moment I am way to involved with the editor that it came with so it's gonna take me a while to type up my full thoughts& ideas report. Geez... its only been a few hours and I'm already making tight-a$$ levels. Holy crap, do you realize what kind of functionality you have with this engine?! I'm almost blown away by it.

Also in the news -- did you know there is already gonna be mods for this game.... and it hasn't even come out yet? Thats crazy.... but the beta editor is pretty well defined with just a few bugs. It's a rebuild of the GTKRadiant app for Quake3. I guess later on I'm just gonna have to post a few pics of what I'm working on. Some pretty cool stuff in there guys.

Alrighty - I'll write a report later...

(ps... now I get why ID switched to nVidia instead.... check out the johnc/credits map.... you'll get what I mean!)

Much To Mike's Request, I'm posting My Unofficial Method for making a Geforce FX work with Doom III

okay, after about 2 hours of trying to figure this out, i finally got it to work...

*Obviously, have doom III already installed to do this!!*
First off, you need to go ahead and run the setup for the 41.09 Drivers that will not work, but will give you the folder needed (usually, C:/Nvidia/2kXP/41.09)
Do not Restart after installation.
Uninstall your existing better drivers from the Device Manager.
Restart your Computer
DO NOT INSTALL THE DRIVERS WHEN IT ASKS YOU AFTER YOU LOG ON!
Just press CANCEL.
Go back to Device Manager and go to Properties.
Under the Driver tab, click UPDATE DRIVER
Choose INSTALL FROM SPECIFIC LOCATION
Click DON'T SEARCH. I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVER TO INSTALL
In that, click HAVE DISK, direct the file to the C:/Nvidia/2KXP/41.09, it will find the nvdspl4 or something. and hit OK
Scroll down on your list of choices to NV25<-crucial!!!
Use that to install as your video card... (some weird things might happen to the screen, but it will come back after like 2 times and finish.
After Installation, Restart
Log back on, reset your screen resolution in Display Properties
Finally, load up Doom III and it should work!
Be Aware that it may take longer than usuall, becuase the NV25 driver is making your FX think it is a Ti4800, and for those of you who are risque may want to try installing the driver as something other than NV25 and see if that works, but do not hold me accountable if something goes wrong... lol

Well, I hope that Helps Anyone with a Geforce FX, and remember to install the new 56.57 drivers back when you're all done with playing or showing off the beta!!!

Have Fun and Enjoy!!!!!

I know it's not officially "legal" to post screenies of a leaked application.... but this is a few screens of me working on level design with the Doom 3 engine. The thing is though... I pumped the video card to 16x anti-aliasing and 8x antistropy.... go figure about the 7-10fps.

Here is a few low-quality screen shots:

Here's looking at you buddy!:

Yup... those are swinging lights I scripted in the level... all in C++ too. Fun stuff.

Here's a cool small room with a fan I programmed to rotate and follow the same sequence with the light. Also look at the cool door sequence and pipes running alongside.

Here's another pic looking down the hallway... I had too much fun with making pipes in a spooky atmosphere.

I also had a trigger to set the zombie to fall out of the dark ceiling and get up to attack you. I love the freaky sounds you can add too.... like banging pipes echoing from the depths of the catwalk and evil breathing sounds bouncing off the walls in the darkness. O0o0o0o.... scary fun stuff.

Yea... I have a 5.1 speaker setup... gotta love that 200watt subwoofer... ooofff! Feels good with the Hell Knight pounding on the floor through the corridors.

If you don't mind, I might post some other screenies too when I get the chance. Some of the game itself and others of stuff I created or found thats not in the levels that are already there. Oh yea... your gonna like the next shot I put up. Should be ready by the end of the week when I figure out how to do bumpmapping correctly with custom textures. You know its gonna be funny.

I finally got it to work for me. I kinda followed Infinium's idea.
Un-installed my existing driver. Restarted.
I downloaded and installed the 41.09 driver. Restarted.
Then I updated the driver. Installed form a specific location.
Selected ' Choose the driver to install'
Make sure to UNCHECK 'Show compatible hardware'.
It will then give you a whole list of Nvidia cards.
I selected the TI 4800. Installed the driver. Restarted.
It worked.

Now I am wondering if installing the 41.09 drivers really did anything...dunno.
