If I lose Windows XP it is just as easy to do a reinstall, plus I no longer have any bugs in my OS, or am I nuts?

That is why I back up online to Backup Solutions who put all my programs, music, pictures and files, except Windows XP, on 12 servers located in twelve different locations. I have had to restore twice from them and it was a breeze, didn't even have to be at the computer. thumbsup

Thats pretty cool, I didn't even know that that kind of sevice was available.

Yep they charge quarterly by how many GBs you backup. If you only backup files it is really cheap. I pay $40 every 3 months but as I said I backup all my programs, music, pictures, Windows XP files, and everything else on my hard drive. Search under backupsolutions.com to get all the information.

I think it is as little as $8.00 for three months. Again depending on how much you backup, but it is a great service. Here in NYC Cable Internet is $49.95 a month and that is way over priced. mad

everyone says how they have disk images of their os drive or other data. How much space does the image take up?

I would make an image of my drive because windows always gives me problems after a little while and it would be nice to make a disk image of the drive when things are working but i don't have much space to store stuff and it would be nice to have full drive image (its an 80gb drive with about 65gb full) but i dont know where to put it if its going to be more than like 10gb

It really depends on how much stuff are you trying to back. Most imaging utilities like ghost compresses the image so that a backing up a 10g hd might only take 5g of space.

You could always get an external hard drive to use for backing up. I have an Iomega 80GB HDD and it will more then do the job for you. Do you mind me asking, do you ever get rid of anything?
