The Ultimate poll, which OS is better all around : OSX (OS10) OS9 or Windows XP Home/Pro

Please only vote if you know somewhat about each operating system.

OS X is by far the best Mac OS. It is Unix based.... Looks real cartoony, but I love the functionality.

I still wanna try it.

I just am not sure if I can get used to that one button mouse... that's what gets me.

Would someone, if they have time, make a post here or in another thread that distinguishes the BIGGEST differences between using a Mac and a regular PC? I'd appreciate that... Mahalo

John, you can use a two button mouse on OS X. Its built for that. MS mouses even work natively. I currently use a Logitech Optical Mouse on a G4 and it works great.

I'd say the main few differences is the dock and the absence of the start menu. You can put your most recently used applications in the dock and the dock also shows open apps (ie the windows taskbar). You can simulate the start menu with an app like Yadal if you want, though. Also, its nice not having your PC lockup and crash. The G4 i use with OS x has yet to freeze on me. Just for fun, i told an 700mhz 256mb imac to open every app it has (from office to ie, to photoshop) AND then force quit the finder (finder = explorer.exe). Didn't even have to restart. One of my friends had a PowerBookTi, on which he can open all his applications AND run out of memory AND still not crash. Pretty nice.

I was messing around a while back and accidentally selected the entire contents of my applications folder, and double clicked. That launched every app, including all utlities on my hard drive. Needless to say, it got a bit pokey, after about the 30th app started launching, but not one of them crashed, and after they were all opened, and then closed, my system still ran fine. It was a fun experiment, anyway.
