For the apps they'll be running a Celeron is fine. Mine is a 1G, and and I have no problems with it doing regular computing or watching movies using XP.

I would get cereon if you are just doing basic stuff, the processors usually don't make a difference until you make your computer to heavier work.

Heres a little chart on CPU speeds. Seems to be an AMD funded research, but it may help. It shows the intel pentium 1.8 outperforming celeron 2.6

but on the other hand, also shows AMD Duron 1.6 blowing away a P4 1.8

Yeah had this said, "And AMD" I'd have said go with AMD.

I just bought a P4 3GHz, but I'd still take a AMD over anything else.

If they were going to buy it all at once and have me build it, I definitely would have put an AMD in there. Vader is still running strong at home since I built him.

LOL....yeah Karyn makes me fun of me now and then because I named it. lol


I think next year when I build another I will call it, Kal El. Depends on how it looks and runs
