Anarchy Online is one of the first new MMPORPGs to appear this year. It is also the first to eschew fantasy in favor of high-tech science fiction.

The world of Anarchy Online takes place in 29,475 A.D. Earth has colonized many worlds throughout the Milky Way, and one in particular, Rubi-Ka, yields a powerful resource called Notum, which is used to power nanotechnology. Omni-Tek, a ruthless megacorporation, runs Rubi-Ka with an iron fist. Players beginning the game can ally themselves with Omni-Tek, or instead join various rebel factions seeking to bring down Omni-Tek. You can even operate independently up to a certain level of experience.

Characters can be created from four different breeds of humans, known as Homo-Solitus, Homo-Opifex, Homo-Nano, and Homo-Atrox, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. There are also 12 different professions from which to choose, including Enforcer, Martial Artist, and Engineer, to name a few.

Was a member of Anarchy Online for about 3 months. It totally rocks. The only problem with Anarchy online is, if you join, DONT MAKE ANY PLANS. It completely sucked me in, and I ended up having to attend addiction classes because of this game. J/K
