Anyone had issues doing a dual boot between XP and LH on two differant drives?? I'm going to install tonight and want to make sure I won't have any issues doing that.

I'm not even going to try using my spare box... it's to slow. Both my high end PC's are running XP... so I'll HAVE to try the dual boot.

Just trying to make sure I won't have issues...

I've heard so far that this new build only runs at its best with 512 MB RAM smilenod

Ok just installed 4051 on nForce2...2500+ 512mb
Longhorn will eventually (After a few reboots) pick up the audio + usb drivers.. Seems to be using standard drivers for the motherboard though. Longhorn recognises the MCP network controller and installs a driver for it - BUT always wants to report that the device cannot be started (Anyone know a workaround?) Put a netgear fa311 pci card in - same thing, used xp driver but device cannot start. Then i tried a D-Link card, and longhorn installed its own drivers - thought that the card was a realtek (sp?). So i manually installed the drivers from a cd and it recognised as the D-Link. Everything looked good - but LH reports that the network cable is unplugged, and the lights on the back are out sad Even though device manager says the device is functional. sad

Having an issue with the login screen too, the little windows flag stays squashed and the system appears to hang for about 4-5 minutes before finally kicking in to the login screen.
Shut down is sloow too.

Also noticed that sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for the explorer bar + side bar to come up.

I had two partitions on my drive - xp on part 1 and pointed at the lh installer to install on partition 2 (Formateed ntfs and blank)... didn't work? LH installed on the XP partition (1) and renamed the windows xp directories with the extension .001 - LH made a boot menu but when you choose boot to win xp it boots to LH as LH re-wrote the files that used to point to XP.. so no, in my opinion, I couldn't make this thing dual-boot. Seriously recommend creating a drive image of your old winxp system before doing this. (I didn't, and i'm regreting it!)

I am running nForce2 as you may have noticed from prior posting. I have a Linksys NIC Card installed which works fine with M$ installed drivers, it did find everything on the Motherboard although I had to install the drivers manually from the Abit CD. I get the same Prob. / Msg. with the on-board NIC. It is also very slow loading and giving me the system @ Desktop, and the shutdown is very slow as well.

I ran into a prob. during the install, on the first attempt it went through the copying and install steps and when it rebooted it stated that there was a file missing or corrupt to try and copy it to the Folder / Dir. Instead I simply rebooted and started the Install over with formating the partition on which I was installing. Installation went flawless the second time around. thumbsup

I am very disappointed that M$ hasn't done any better then they have to support nForce with this OS.

I can use my Linksys to connect to the Internet which I will prob. be doing to just test it out. I need to find that posting I seen of the Windows Msg.er 6 fix. :D

Also I plan on trying some games and other Software with it to see what happens, depending on what the first few things I attempt to install does as to how far I go with it and how long I will use / test it. 4029 was no good for me, hopefully this one will be better.

Good luck everyone!
