have looked for solution to this but its a matter of too much information don't know where to start.
installed xp on partition D installed vista on partition C
vista boots fine, but no boot menu to enable to boot to XP

Which order did you install the OS's in XP first of Vista first?

When you say partitions, do you have one drive with 2 partitions or 2 drives?

Find your boot.ini file and copy and then paste it here please.
