well went and took the stupid A+ test just to get the little piece of paper.

been in IT field since early 90's and that doesn't matter to new employers, they want the stupid little piece of paper.

A+ is 2 exams now,
took one of those online practice tests and passed, figured I could do it for real.

not too bad I guess
test1 scored 790 out of 900
test2 scored 870 out of 900

now I am certifiable.. i mean certified

they still got win98 and NT questions on the test

well I just been doing this stuff a while and figured it couldn't be too difficult.
free ones probably not the best if you're just getting into doing IT. you would really need to study and hands on for that. quite a few where would you find/change this kind of questions that will throw you because you are used to right click, yada yada yada and get there, they want to step through the start\programs menu..
geez.. i rarely ever use my start\programs anymore with shortcuts, quicklaunch, right clicks who needs it..

not like way back when I did novell 3 and they had a pc, they showed you it worked, you had a couple minutes to look over it, then the guy breaks it (without you looking) and you have to come in and get it working again in their idea of a reasonable time.

Congrats on your certifications Bobby.

I got a Server+ and Security+ recently and they also had fundamental questions ( like when a backup is really useful ? When it can be restored ).

But they seem to be requested from many companies here too. I had a number of proposal to teach these classes.
