Anyone, at all, ended up in the position I'm in, trying to get AutoCAD 2009 Civil 3D and AutoCAD 2009 itself (which is the base of Civil 3D) to play well with security, being run in both forms on demand consistently and without oddities (like the ribbon failing to start), and... in a form that won't break when it's working from users on network profiles?

It's been a fun couple days. I did find out, though, that installing a vanilla AutoCAD 2009 alongside Civil 3D will break things where their data in a user's profile is concerned. One or the other throws a fit.

As I'm not at all a user of AutoCAD myself... even just testing the setup can be a bit of a pain, only glaring issues stand out to me with the meager glance I can give it. At least, though, so far it looks like Autodesk fixed an issue that remained even as late as AutoCAD 2006 with simple Windows XP security... it refused to run properly back then as a non-Administrator user.

I'm not sure yet if this is a rant, or a plea for help... whistle
