if you download tewakuac from www.tweak-uac.com/ then you can put uac into quiet mode. This gives you the proteced mode in ie7 and all the other benefits of uac, but removes the nag screens.

Alternatively, in the 'run' (or 'search') bar, type msconfig.

Once the window pops up, you'll notice several tabs i.e. General, Boot, Services, Startup and Tools.

Click on the 'tools' tab and scroll down the list until you find 'Disable UAC'. Once you've found it, highlight it and click on the Launch button.

After that, a DOS prompt screen pops up telling you that 'The operation completed successfully'. A reboot will be required.

To further guarantee it's disabled (completely), click on Start, highlight 'My Computer' (or 'Computer' as Vista calls it), right-click and select Manage from the drop-down list.

Once in, double-click 'Services and Applications', 'Services'. Scroll down the list of services until you reach 'User Account Control' and double-click it. Set Startup type to 'Disabled' and 'Stop' the service (if not done so already). Click 'OK' and you're done.

This may seem a little more long-winded but it DEFINITELY gets the job done.
