Beautiful home; I think we have to go brick on the front for our next home. I would have fun with the garden beds around the house too.

Many Americans (including myself) are dependent on cars to get to work, school, church, etc because of a lack of public transportation. Furthermore, since most of our society grew up around cars, everything is spread out and hard to walk or bike to.
Not that I particularly like cities that are crammed together, but having more of them would certainly solve some problems. First, cramming a city together would reduce the amount of traffic because more individuals would be likely to walk, bike, or ultiize some sort of public transit system. This would almost certainly reduce obesity which I view as a function of the lack of exercise Americans get (because we have to drive everywhere lol) and - if you believe in Global Warming, would cut CO2 emissions.
Oh well - we will just have to find away to make do with the country we have built for ourselves.

Brick is the way to go. The money you save on home owner insurance will pay for the brick in about 4 to 5 years.

We visited California this February to visit my brother and his family in Santa Clara, California. We decided to drive south on Highway 1 and stay at an Inn just south of Big Sur called Ragged Point. We hiked up the hill in front of the Ragged Point Inn, turned around and took this picture of the Inn and the Pacific Ocean. You can barely see the Inn from where we took the picture:
