Is it possible to have a Linux system installed and only use GRUB to boot into it from a CD?

So basically it would use the normal Windows bootloader unless I had the GRUB cd in the drive. Is this possible?

I know before you could run GRUB from a floppy disk, so I don't see why you couldn't. I'd imagine that it would be easier to install it onto a flash drive though compared to a CD

That's probably fine with me. Do you have any ideas as how?

you would have to mount the USB drive (likely to /boot) and then just install GRUB normally. It's been a while since I've done anything with Linux or dual booting though.
