This is the first time in a long while that I've taken a look at it. I must say there's enough functionality in it to do everything one needs in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.

Yeah it's still free. I think there are quite a few versions around though. This one I'm using came auto installed with Kubuntu 7.10 smilenod

For basic office stuff, OO.org has been pretty good for a while. Fonts is the only thing that may screw people up really. If you wanted to do some advanced stuff, MS Office was definitely easier, and also had some more powerful tools, especially for spreadsheets. Overall though, you can really beat the price of Open Office for the amount of functionality it has.
