Okay, so I have this texture:
The only problem is that, those dark areas make it look odd. Like in the center. 
How do I correct that with GIMP? I've experimented for almost 30 minutes with GIMP and I haven't been able to fix it. And I don't have enough money for Photoshop.

You have to press control and click a sample first before you can clone stuff.

Ugh, all that dumb tool does is copy and paste. I just made the image look worse.

Which version of the Gimp are you using. I think that the Clone tool in the newest one is a bit better than the older version.
Anyway, I think that image you have is actually 4 separate images spliced together. That explains why the middle center is the darkest because the edges of each of the four sections get darker than their middles. Just my two cents.

Wasn't sure if you were specifically trying to find out how to do it in GIMP or if you were just trying to get it done.
