Perhaps there doing a re-haul, which in my opinion was needed after XP. The Mac team has considerably less developers but they turn out OS's faster. Perhaps that's being modeled. Or perhaps this ones been in the works for awhile.
But I still think that it's unlikely that it will be out by second half of 2009.

So far there has been no leak of anything.... which is to be expected, as LH didn't leak until M3. Although that was only 20 builds from M1. So therefore we could see a leaked Seven build by next month.

Quite simply, give Vista a wide berth. That's a nautical term and for anyone who is unfamiliar with it, thefreedictionary.com defines it as follows: Ample space or distance to avoid an unwanted consequence
No seriously though, with XP SP3 just around the corner and a two year support period for SP3, is there any good reason anymore to subject oneself to Vista? Maybe those corporates who've bought into a software assurance program but that's all I can think of.

It's funny, you guys' attitudes towards Vista pretty much mirror my own feelings towards XP
I had to use XP on a friend/client/associate's rig yesterday, and I just wanted to throw the OS out of the window from sheer frustration at its "quirks" ...
I mean, with the releases of the fully Vista-compatible versions of Nero and of Norton Utilities, as well as the HUGE advances in the Vista SP1 particularly for video playback (compared to the sub-standard video playback in the RTM), I have no reason whatsoever to use XP, and in fact it is not even installed as a safety net OS on either of my rigs... XP SP3 ? <yaawwwwnnn>
---
I can understand the frustration of some people who may own expensive hardware purchased from a manufacturer who may have neglected to release updated drivers, or who may need to use whichever vitally important software that only works in XP
Really though, the only meaningful comparison between Me and Vista IMHO would be to say : Vista is incomparably better than Me

Well you are missing a major factor in why Vista is currently worse than XP. Gaming Preformance.
For example. I had Windows Server 2008 (which is based off of Vista), I ran a simple benchmark, Aquamark 3. I had my system fully OC'd (C2D E66 @ 3.2Ghz + 4GB OCZ DDR2, 7600GT). I pulled 73k, a respectable score, but nowhere near awe-inspiring.
However, when I installed XP SP3 I noticed a tremendous difference. I ran it with stock clocks to see how much I could get. I got 85k. That's approximately 10-15FPS in gameplay (which is huge for newer games). Then I overclocked it to above specs, and I managed to pull 103k. So I essentially roughly 30 FPS, just by going back to XP.
And I won't even touch the subject of Norton...

It's true I'm not much of a gamer, and I wouldn't (and DON'T) go anywhere near any other Norton than the NU...
EDIT : still, did you test the Vista RTM or the SP1 ? There is a huge desktop rendering bug in the RTM which causes playback slowdown, and probably affects games too...
