What is everyone's opinion on this chip? It is a 2.6GHZ dual core processor. It is also fully unlocked! This means overclocking without raising the core voltage and still being energy efficient!

I am considering this as an upgrade to my 3800+ dual core. My only concern is if it will work in my Asus M2N-MX AM2 motherboard. Asus's website doesn't say much about compatible chips. Anyone run this chip?

It is lacking a little in the L2 cache... still 512k per core... Vs. the 1MB per core in the 5200+ (which is locked).

Personally, this seems like an inexpensive way to pump up an AM2 system easily.

Here is the site to check CPU compatibility with ASUS motherboards.

ASUS CPU Compatibility

Change the first drop down box to motherboard, select the type of processor and select your board.

It will give you a list of processors that are supported and what bios revision it started being supported.

Well, I ended up getting this CPU after seeing that it is compatible with my motherboard. Amazing performance right out of the box! About 10 min, I set the multiplier from 13 to 15, with the final clock being at 3.0 (from 2.5). It has the stock cooler on it and is idling at 38 degrees C. I am soon getting a better one, but that is coooool for being OCed 400MHZ over! I love it and recommend it highly!
