imnuts is correct about the heat in the MacBook and MacBook Pro. I have both the MacBook and the last release of the PPC iBook.

My MacBook has already had a hard drive crash (it rattled) and runs warmer than PC notebooks. The iBook runs reasonable unless you are running hard core graphics design programs on it.

My friend has a MacBook Pro and you can fry eggs on it just through normal surfing of the internet.

IMO, you'd be better off spending $2000 on a Lenovo ThinkPad with all the extras and looking into the OSX86 project whistle Also, don't listen to everything about Macs being better for graphics processing. They used to be the best machines possible for it, but after they switched to the Intel processor, they became just as good as a normal Windows machine. The only reason that they are still considered the best is because many of the movie/film editing apps that were available previously were for just Apple systems, and when the switched over, so did the software. The PPC processors were far better than the AMD/Intel processors of the day at doing graphics processing, I think that I saw somewhere that the Sun SPARC processors were basically just as good, maybe a little better. But now that it's running on an Intel chip, the speed will be similar to running it on a Windows system of the same specs. Granted, the Windows system may not have the same program, but if you're using the same codecs/rendering settings, speeds should be similar.

imnuts is correct. I still believe that my PPC iBook runs as good if not better than my MacBook

If you really wanted a Mac, my advice would be to go to eBay or similar place and get a G5 powermac or G4 powerbook. Otherwise, stick with a PC as it will be bigger, faster, and cheaper than any mac counterpart, plus you'll know what goes into it if you build it yourself.

Yea, well this is also more of a windows oriented site. But hey, apparently a mac can double up as an egg fryer. Seems like knocking out 2 birds with 1 mac!
